Overview
David Orth designs and crafts furniture & sculpture in his rural woodworking and metalworking studio just northwest of Chicago. His furniture is sculptural, multicultural, modern-primitive, highly crafted, and structurally innovative. His abstract sculpture is sometimes energetic, sometimes contemplative. Lately he's taken an interest in sculpture for garden spaces. David teaches design, woodworking, & metalworking. He gives public talks and has published essays on art, craft, technology, mysticism, & society.
His clients are a surprising group of unique people and pioneering institutions scattered across the US - including a few in Canada and the UK. Many of the individuals are creative types themselves. Many are entrepreneurs. All are skilled in their own fields and occupations. Among them are a movie director, authors, a limo driver, investors, doctors, nurses, a truck driver, a bookseller, bankers, teachers, accountants, engineers, musicians, interior designers, architects, a famous radio personality, artists, large and small companies, churches, synagogues, museums, and more.
